Tomas Rekem Charges Include Forible Confinement, Criminal Harassment And Sexual Assault
An incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. of Saturday morning at Aylmer's Ontario Police College location. The pending investigation resulted in the arrest and multiple charges by Elgin County OPP of a recruit there.
The recruit in question is Tomas Rekem, believed to be 25 years of age and from Mississauga. Rekem's birthplace is Slovakia, where he initially grew up. A number of online comments and articles paint him as a "respectful" individual who conducts himself with "dignity." However, if the sex assualt charges prove true, these claims are in question.
The police arrest of Tomas Rekem is based on evidence regarding the sexual assault of another recruit. Along with the charge of sexual assault, Rekem also faces charges of both criminal harassment and forcible confinement.
Sexual assault crimes are ones of both control and power. In such incidents, assailants assault victims sexually against their resistance, or at least without the victim's consent. These assaults take many forms, but the most common variation is commonly known simply as rape.

Criminal harassment is one of the three serious charges against Tomas Rekem, with sexual assault and forcible confinement being the other two. A constable of the Elgin County OPP, Troy Carlson, indicated that the charges were a result of the victim making the incident known to them. At the time of writing, no other related incidents were suspected or known, but the investigation was ongoing.
